I wish Link would let me photograph him more often, because he really is a pretty cat. Or I guess I should say handsome.
This is him right after he smelled the area on the bed we had to treat AGAIN because Gordo peed on it. I’m starting to worry that he’s never going to get used to Link being in the house.
I feel guilty, like a bad mom, for bringing in another cat, especially one that upsets Gordo so badly, but it’s not like I can just get rid of Link. I mean, we really like him. A lot. And he needed a home.
I wish Gordo would understand that. I mean, come on, he came from a shelter, too. But that was a long time ago, and he’s an old, crotchety man now.
And a cat. And I guess cats don’t understand things like “charity,” “getting along with people you don’t like,” and definitely not “stop peeing on the bed.”

Have you given cat pheromones a try? I feel like we’ve talked about it on Twitter but I can’t remember. Might be worth a shot. Diffuser and/or spray. It’s helped keep my evil ones from scratching the fuck out of the couch, and the package says it’s great for curbing marking behavior such as scratching and pissing…

When we first got Link we used Feliway, and it seemed to calm him down. We thought Gordo was peeing on the bed back then because he didn’t like Link, but it actually turned out that he was too scared/unwilling to go downstairs to use the catbox and just had to go somewhere (why he couldn’t go in the tub, who knows.)
But that was back in May, maybe? And as soon as we figured out why he was doing it we put a new catbox upstairs and brought his food and water up there, and until last week he has been pretty happy. We had just changed the catboxes the night that he peed on the bed the other day, so I’m kind of wondering if he did it in the 20 minutes or so that there was no box up there for him.
I still have some Feliway spray, though, so I think I’m going to get it out and spray the house again just to see if it helps. If it seems like it is I might invest in one of the plug-ins that goes off automatically.
